Peter Wennink, the chief executive of Dutch chip equipment manufacturer ASML, said that in some cases, the US government will prevent the company from providing after-sales services for some of the machines it had previously sold to Chinese customers. However, these restrictions will not have a significant impact on the financial situation from 2025 to 2030 because the number of affected Chinese factories is limited.
Wennink said that the company can provide services for them, but cannot use American products and technologies, and cannot use American components subject to export controls. This is only for a limited number of systems. Any other products sold by the company can be installed and after-sales services can also be provided.
The US government has pressured the Dutch government to ask it to prevent ASML from providing after-sales services for some of the tools worth billions of euros that have been sold to Chinese customers, including equipment that has been approved for export or has been sold before the introduction of new restriction measures in 2023.
