Foreign media reported that several of the world’s largest solar equipment manufacturers have asked the US Biden administration to impose tariffs on panels and battery components produced in the factories of Chinese companies from four Asian countries to protect US manufacturing.
The trade commission of the US Solar Energy Manufacturers Alliance accused Chinese companies with factories in Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand of selling solar panels in the US market at prices lower than the production cost, resulting in a price plunge of more than 50%, which threatens their products produced in the US. Seven companies, including US First Solar, Convalt Energy, Mission Solar, and Swift Solar, South Korean Hanwha Qcells, Swiss Meyer Burger, and Norwegian REC Silicon, issued a statement indicating that they were the behind-the-scenes manipulators who applied to the US Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission.
